Determining whether or not an antibiotic is working requires evaluation by a doctor. Depending on what bacterium is causing the infection and where the infection is located, evaluation may include a medical history, physical examination, laboratory work, and/or imaging procedures.

Even if you start feeling better, it is important to continue to take all of the medication exactly as your doctor has prescribed. And even if you're not feeling better, the medication may be working well. This is why it is important to see a doctor.

If symptoms are starting to disappear after most of your prescription is gone. The specifics depend on what your were prescribed the antibiotic for.
