When turbos go out on a car, it is often very obvious. A failed/failing turbo will produce a loud whining noise most of the time and will be paired with a significant loss of horsepower and torque. These are two key things to look for. I have also heard of failed/failing turbos producing excessive smoke, but this could also be caused by something like a head gasket leaking oil on a hot block, which makes excessive smoke a solid but not certain sign that your turbo is at its end.
Look on the exhaust system for the turbo unit.
if you don't know this, you shouldn't drive an rx7...look at the engine...do you see a turbo???
It is quiet obvious when you have a turbo because when you accelerate you hear a whistling sound. The turbo noise is unmistakable.
Depends on where the problem is. If the problem is the wastegate acutuator (gold or rusty cylinder attached to the turbo), replace it. If the problem is the wastegate flapper assembly (arm attached to turbine housing on the turbo), pentrating oil works wonders. If that does not work, you have to replace the turbine housing.
you have a belt driven turbo? how old is that car turbos were belt or chain driven when first invented to keep planes in the air. i know of know car with a belt driven turbo
Answer:I have a 2003 Audi A4 1.8 Turbo around 67,000 miles. It started shooting a lot of white smoke in couple of days. I have read the other answers, and I thought it was burning antifreeze. When I took it to the mechanic shop, the first mechanic said the motor was bad. The second mechanic told me it could be related with turbo. He took the turbo out and yes it was the problem. Turbo was shooting the oil out. Instead of buying an expensive new turbo, I bought the rebuild kit for $40, and rebuilt it. For around $500 the problem is solved. No more smoke , and much better performance. If you have a car with turbo, that might be your problem.
I have Toyota 2l-T engine the problem is the oil blowing on the exhaust is this the turbo charger problem?
i dont know, have the same problem with Little fighter 4 turbo, its says: sprite/sys/moon_0.bmp and then: Couldn't create art surface
i dont know either i got 350 turbo no forward but have reverce if anyone finds out let me know ....rebuild is about 800.
You need to determine if it is a fuel problem or a spark problem in order to narrow the possibilities
Short answer: No. As far as I know, the VR6 was never turbo stock from the factory. The only egines that came with turbo were the 4 cylinder 1.8T and the TDI (diesel).
By chance, did you change the ECU out when you converted to non-turbo? If not, there's your problem.
