When you first start off in your vehicle, it runs fine, then it starts acting like it's running out of gas, which, technically, it is. Because the gas (fuel) cannot pass the filter to the engine.
I don't know if it is the same as the ZX5 but the fuel filter in my 2005 ford focus ST has the fuel filter in the fuel tank, because it is an automatic. A manual has the fuel filter in the fuel line and you should be able to find it by following fuel line.
The 09 ford focus does not have a fuel filter to be replaced, it has a lifetime fuel filter in the tank. Just found that out myself, after looking for an hour and 2 auto parts store, and a dealership not know where it was, read the owners guide
It is important to know how much fuel a car will hold. For a Ford Focus, the gas tank holds about 12. 4 gallons of fuel.
check fuel pressure. they rent gauges at more parts stores.
More likely you need to replace the fuel filter, or your injectors need cleaning. That's what our problem was... injectors, especially. When you have stalling or starting problems. A fuel pressure test will verify the condition of the fuel pump. Like the above answer said, replace the fuel filter before doing anything. That may solve your problem.
As far as I know it is located under the air filter box.
the fuel filter is located under the vehicle , drivers side, in front of the fuel tank..... mounted on the chassis in the fuel line........
lol, women dont know anything do they. ======================================================= With engine oil filter change ( 4.5 quarts ) according to the 2009 Ford Focus Owner Guide
I don't know maybe you shouldn't be changing it..... Lolly Bear!
Fuel filter is located between the engine and firewall on drivers side. You will need to relieve the fuel pressure from the fuel system before replacing the filter. I have a 1999 Ford Escort so I know this because I have replaced mine. The fuel filter is located on the center of the firewall in the engine compartment about half way down. The firewall is the part that seperates the engine compartment from the interior of the car.
You need 6mm and 10mm combination wrenches, 10mm socket, 6" extension, ratchet, in 1/4" drive. I suppose you already know where it is? Front right corner of the fuel tank, up in a recess.
I know that on a 1995 it is located in the rear driver's side of the engine compartment. Although if you just follow the fuel line (it should have a flow arrow on it) from the engine block out it will run into the fuel filter.
