Unfortunately, I use Win2k, so I do not know how it has changed, but there is a help section in Win2k for this. Try searching the help topics under 'direct network connection.' In win2k, there is a specific help page just for what you are trying to do.
Also, consider buying a network card for each machine. You could probably get both for about a total of $50. This would allow much faster and easier data transfers.

The parts of a laptop charger are: the Wall to converter cable, the power converter, the converter to the PC cable and the plug. It operates by the plug passing energy or electricity to the wall to converter cable. The wall to converter cable then passes the energy to the converter. Finally the converter passes on the energy to the PC through the plugged in head connected to the laptop and it's charged.

With a cross-over cable just plug one end into the laptop and other end into the PC using the RJ-45 jacks. Then, configure both with static IP addresses and you are ready to go.
It is possible to link 2 computers together with USB and cat5 from one to internet but internet wouldn't be shared. Easiest to get a router with 4 port switch and hook both laptop and computer to it.

First check that your TV has a PC input of not. There is a PC Input in newly built LCD's and plasma's attach a cable(monitor cable) from your CPU or laptop into PC Input.For details refer to your LCD/Plasma User Manual.
