The easiest way is get a router and set up a network to share internet connection:
One can purchase an ethernet hub which would allow two computers to share a link with the same modem. This will simeotaneously link both computer from a up using a tcp/ip protocol.
You need an Ethernet hub. Connect your modem and both computers to the hub, and both of your computers will have a connection available. The OS's only affect the connection settings on each computer.
Networking.
it depends if you dont want to use a modem or a router you can link both computers with a telephone line or link them with a male to male usb cable also you can use networking cable. the only downside is that youll have to deal with the wires but if both computers are close it is not muchof a problem You can also use a Parallel Port Data Transfer Cable to connect the two PC's printer port and employs the direct cable connection. == ==
Assuming the two computers are connected via an internal network (e.g., through a network switch), you can set up a proxy on the computer that has the modem. This makes it possible to share the Internet connection - as long as the computer that has the proxy is turned on. I am talking about a software proxy here; several proxy programs are available, both free and commercial.
yes no like
First you are going to need a modem for one of the computers. Now u can have internet for both or just one. Preferably both. Now what you do is you buy a wireless modem link.(Router) This is what they will be called....a Wireless router. for example...... a (Wireless-G Broadband Router) u have to have a USB port of course. They will have an activator on the box. Activate it with the indicator of the USB port, and wire the modem and Router together at the I.P. address or Rest Pot. and you're set....
No, your signal will not weaken with two or more computers accessing the modem. Most modems operate on a 3G network, these modems offer over 300kbits of speed and can accomodate multiple computers. Many Cafe's, libraries and bookstores like Barnes and Noble offer this type of WIFI for their patrons. So, there should not be a problem with you setting up your computers to one wireless modem.
To hook up two computers to one modem, you get a router.
You can use a router, either wired (Ethernet) or wireless to connect two or more computers with a single cable modem. You would need either Category 5, 5e, or Category 6 Ethernet cables to do this. Also, you may set up a wireless Local Area Network (otherwise known as LAN) if your type of router supports that and your computer(s)/devices support it.
yes
A switch is typically used to connect multiple computers in a single residential unit to a modem.
