You just do. You have to stay visibly calm and provide as much support/care that you can. But make sure you do not smother them. Deal with the emotions you feel away from them as long as you can. They will need you in ways you would not have imagined. You will learn a ton about whatever cancer they may have. So again, do not hover over them. Would you you want someone hovering over you? Now imagine how it would feel with cancer.
Live cancer is an active cancer.
The American Cancer Society has a service called "Kids Konnected" ('konnected' deliberately spelled with a 'k') which provides support for children who have a parent with cancer, or who have lost a parent to cancer. You can contact them at 800-899-2866 Monday - Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific time. Or you can contact them through the link provided below.
speak from the heart :]
depends on the other parent and the one your going to live with
No, but see the related question.
If the parents are divorced then it is between the parents if the child can go live with the other parent. At age 14 the child can choose witch parent he/she wont's to live with. If that other parent is not willing to let the child go live with that parent then it can be taken to court or just wait till the child is 18 and can go live on it's own.
No. If you have your parent's permission, then you can live with who you want.
The most likely scenario is that the children will live with the other parent as long as that parent was not deemed unfit while the custodial parent was alive. If that parent was denied custody for cause the courts may consider another gaurdian should the non custodial parent still be considered unsuitable.
