there is a round black canister [softball size]down low behind passenger headlight the hose you want comes out and goes over top of the engine you need to remove inside engine cover to get at it. it will be dry rotted if you can find hose small enough replace it dealer will cost alot. i did mine works great
Because you have a vacuum leak in the system or your vacuum canister is leaking. When you accelerate the vacuum from the engine will drop. That will cause your system to loose vacuum and the floor/defrost door will go to its neutral position. To keep the vacuum up you have a canister that will hold vacuum. It must be air tight.
Vacuum pump the same vacuum pump that works automatic locking hubs on the 4wd
vacuum leak. look at the vac pump under the hood on the pass side and check the hoses for dry rot or cracks
In many cases leaves can cause smoke to blow through the defrost of a 1990 Ford F 150
You have a vacuum leak. When the a/c controls don't get any vacuum, it defaults to the defrost position. Check and make sure someone didn't accidentally disconnect the vacuum hose with their feet. Look under the dashboard on the passenger side.
A vacuum leak in the vacuum supply line from the engine can do that. Many vehicles use engine vacuum to operate the HVAC system. If there is a loss of vacuum to the system it will default to defrost.
Check the 96 Blazer for any vacuum leaks in the system. A vacuum leak can cause the air flow to only come out of the heat vent.
The vehicle does not have just one hose. A vacuum leak in any hose can cause low vacuum and the door will not operate properly. The leak could be under the dash or under the hood.
Where the air blows out control are vacuum operated.A more common problem is when the air is stuck on defrost only. The cause is essentially the same, so check out the "Related Question" below for where to go next
vacuum leak the vacuum reservoir is below the left head light, check the hoses
Hi the engine produces more vacuum at Idle, this is producing enough vacuum to pull the actuator for the selected vent;when on the gas the vacuum reduced. In most vehicle defrost is the first duct off the heater box, and all other aft are open or closed to Chanel the air to the selected vent. See if the vacuum actuator at selected vent hold vacuum with a hand pump,if not it's faulty. How ever if the symptom is the same no mater what vent selection you choose, there is a problem with either the vacuum line supplying heating system, vacuum accumulator , heater control assembly. If your idle is high or a little rough you will most likely find a vacuum leak. The hand held vacuum pump is a very handy tool and will cost about 20 bucks for an inexpensive one. Take care and Good Luck
On the passenger side under the hood on the fire wall there is a vacuum hose along with a one way check ball valve, the vacuum line always brakes or cracks which will cause the air to only blow on defrost or blow from vents until you give it more gas or climb a hill. Find the broken vacuum line and repair it, that will fix the problem, if it doesn't you may have a check ball valve on that vacuum line that has gone bad.
