If it's anything like my 98 avenger. All you have to do is re lock the car with the key or if you have a key fob lock it that way. It should disarm it once it goes off
That is the sign that the system is arming. It does not set when you lock the doors manualy.
I have a 98 Avenger and right after i bought is when my alarm went off ... (Ididn't even know there was an alarm....) I finally disarmed it by putting the key in the drivers door lock and unlocking it. Good Luck!
Check your hood alignment sensor for the alarm and the trunk sensor
98' avenger past experience check the alarm wire on the inside of the lock/ tumbler. ( driver side) it may have fallen down. try unlocking w/ key on passenger side.
check and see if the window lock is on.
Casement windows lock, they do not slide.
I had a similar problem when I first got my Avenger. My remote was not working, so everytime I locked the door ( while open)the alarm would arm. This is the trick: Lock the door when it's closed, don't lock it when it's open otherwise the alarm will go off. OR You can disarm the alarm by unlocking the trunk with the key. I learned of this from a Dodge dealership. Had issues with the remote and once you lock the car from the inside or out it is armed. I ran into times where i would lock the door after getting in then once i started the car alarm would go off or once locked you cannot open the door from the inside or alarm will go off.
you lock the doors with your hands
