Well, it all depends on the size of the tank, and whether or not it's filtered:
* For 1/2 gallons, non filtered tanks - 100% water changes every week.
* For 1 gallon - 2 gallon, non filtered tanks - 100% water changes weekly
* For 2.5 gallon - 5 gallon, filtered tanks - 25% water changes weekly
* For 10 gallon, filtered tanks - 10% to 25% weekly water changes
THINGS TO REMEMBER:
- Always use water the same temperature as before. Betta's are quite sensitive to water temperature fluctuations
- Always use dechlorinator or let the water set for at least 24 hours before using. Never use distilled water
- Never use soap when cleaning the tank
- For smaller tanks, use a turkey baster (or something similar) to get rid of extra food and waste. For larger tanks, try gravel vacuums.
Ok, you will need: Food ( refer to below ), tank, plants or hiding places ( optional ), betta fish tank thermometer, betta fish ( DUH ), water conditioner, and if you want to be really nice, betta revive ( again optional ).
Step 1: Feeding
Betta fish should be fed 2-4 times a day depending on the size of the fish. Remember, their stomach is the size of their eye, not very big! Betta fish flakes will also work, but if you want a little more fancy betta meal, use blood worms or brine shrimp.
Step 2: The tank
Betta fish do not need a very big tank. In the wild they will live in flooded foot prints to flooded tire tacks. They are air breathers, they have lungs, not gills, so remember to not keep a lid on tour tank. If your betta fish jumps, put a lid with air holes over the top of your tank. They like to hide, so fake plants and stuff like that would be good. Your local pet store will usually have these things.
Step 3: Cleaning the tank
The first time you get your betta, you should use a betta thermometer to check the temperature of the water in his little bag or container. Whatever that temperature is, is the temperature that the water should be every time you clean his tank. Get the right temperature of water ready in your tank, with your betta hiding places in it too, and put him in. His tank should be cleaned once a week. It will take him a little while to get used to his new home, but he will adjust. Every time you clean his tank after that, the weater temperature should still be kept at the same as when you got him. Do not do a complete water change, put him in a separate bowl with half of his old water, then do a half water change. This is so he does not go into shock.
Note: Do not put two male betta fish in the same tank, they will kill each other. Females can be kept together. Males are the ones with the long, flowing fins, females are the ones with the short fins.
Hope my article helped, if you need more, go to www.bettatalk.com. It is a very good site run by a betta expert.

Let it B
Use a tropical fish tank, preferably new. That way you know that it should not leak. Try to avoid using a tank that was used for something other than tropical fish. I prefer glass tanks over acrylic because they are less likely to mark or look dirty and they are easier to keep clean. Most aquarists will tell you to start off with a small tank and as you enjoy it more and more, you can opt a larger tank. When I started into tropical fish and as I bought larger tanks I used the smaller tank for breeding. Tropical fish tanks and supplies are available in most pet stores that sell tropical fish.
U buy tropical fish and get a background and then that is how u can do that
They can't.You do not have to remove fish to clean a tank, as you should never be cleaning the entire tank; it will remove the good bacteria needed for the health of your fish.If your tank is over stocked and you are unable to upgrade to something bigger, many local fish stores may be willing to give you store credit for returning some fish.
no tropical fish need warm water
Scoop all your fishes to another tank or tub of water and clean the fish tank just as you would normally without the fish
Your fish tank doesn't need to be cleaned. It's always clean.
No. Not in the traditional definition of the tropical tank. A tropical tank is a freshwater aquarium. Regal Tangs are saltwater fish and go in a saltwater tank (marine aquarium).
why not
Probably the fish. I would not put a crab in a tank with tropical fish unless they were a LOT bigger than it was, and it was not going to grow any larger.
depends on the size of the fish, there might not be enough oxigen in a small fish tank.
if you have a tropical fish or a filtered tank than yes you do need a light
Only if it has a heater in the tank other wise the tropical fish will die. They are warm blooded instead of cold blooded.
