Shrimp and other Inverts are like canaries in mine shafts, they are the first to go in the event of toxins. Therefore you must keep your water quality top notch with: water changes, clean filter pads, proper filtration and aeration and using the proper chemicals in proper amounts. Also you must be conservative in tank mates due to the shrimp being a favorite food of many aquatic animals.
