a snowflakes characteristics are the things that make it special. Think of things that make you special, like maybe how your hair always parts the same way. That is a characteristic of yourself. That is what makes you stand out from anyone else, when someone is trying to find you, and they know that special characteristic about you.

This is the same way you can identify a snowflake. When a snowflake is falling out of the sky, take in as much of its characteristics as possible, and then when the wind blows it away, look for it again in the snow that got blown away and is now falling from the sky again. You will be able to find it easier, because you now know its characteristics. You should try this activity when there is not that much snow.
