IF IT HAS A SERIAL NUMBER YOU SHOULD FIND IT ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RECEIVER, UNDER THE FINGER LEVER, AROUND THE TANG AREA. COULD BE IN ONE OF A FEW DIFFERENT AREAS, BUT ALWAYS ON THE RECEIVER. OLDER MODELS MAY NOT HAVE IT. IF IT HAS A SERIAL NUMBER YOU SHOULD FIND IT ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RECEIVER, UNDER THE FINGER LEVER, AROUND THE TANG AREA. Look under the lever of your Marlin rifle.
Look on the barrel and receiver.
The serial number should be on the lower tang, under the lever. Open the lever and look where it meets the tang.
Look at the lower forward receiver, the lower tang,or upper tang.
It does. Look under the lever on the bottom tang. sales@countrygunsmith.net
I can say that your Marlin model 336CS was made in the year 1984.I would look to Marlin,s own website to get any more info on your model of Marlin lever action rifle.
the serial number is located on the rear tang top strap (cock the trigger and look right below the hammer in cocked position..hope this helps...470 fish
I have the same number on my 336-RC 35 REM, so I'm thinking that it is not the serial number. That number was stamped on the left side of the rifle just above the trigger. I have not been able to find any other numbers that look like a serial number.
Click on this link to look up year. oldguns.net/sn_php/marlinlookup.php Yours is a 1982 model year (18132229)
The location of the serial number varies with the age of the rifle. Check the bottom part of the tang, or sight, under the level. Look for the serial number on the top tang behind the hammer. Check the back of the hammer for the serial number.
Look on the barrel. It should be marked. If you can't read it, take it to a gunsmith for a chamber cast. Generally, you can't tell the caliber form the serial number. If you had provided more of a description (bolt, pump, lever) maybe someone would be able to find it in the book written by Brophy on Marlin.
