I would start with a low "bad carb" diet. This includes pastas, breads, carrots, corn, squash, etc.
Get plenty of exercise.
Keep your sweets intake to a minimum.

When you have a craving for something that would ruin a diet, drink a glass of water and eat a handful or nuts(i suggest marcona almonds, they are delicious). This will hopefully get rid of your craving.
Eat the right proportions of means. a palm size piece of meat of fish to two or three palms of vegetables.
