I found cycling really helped to tone up my buttocks and thighs, I was doing 30 miles (about 43km) a day for 3 months to work and it was shocking how quickly my body reacted and reshaped. Sit with the seat high so your using your entire leg to push not just your calf.

Also make sure your diet matches your exercise, don't stop eating to lose weight. If you are being more active, you need to eat more or your body will store fat because you are starving it of energy particularly when exercising.

As much cardio activity or cardio exercise as you can manage with plenty of vegetables, quality protein, fruit, and brown rice (unless you are carbohydrate sensitive, insulin resistant, diabetic, etc).
