Well, there is not a whole lot you can do for the mets slower top speed of around 40 mph. Some people say a high performance muffler/exhaust or high performance air intake will give you a higher top speed. Well, this is not true. Top speed=hp+gearing. A performance muffler or intake will give you much better acceleration and power for 2 up and going up steep hills, but you will still be redlining the motor at 40 mph and the rev limiter will kick in at the same speed. The only thing you can do is try and find a high performance variator and muffler. This way the engine will be able to handle the taller gearing. Or even change the roller weights. But, doing this will be VERY expensive and a lot of work. The max speed I have ever hear of a MET going is 50 mph with a racing variator and so on So just try to enjoy it the way it is, as it was not designed with speed in mind. The best thing to do for speed would be to get a bigger scooter. You would probably save money and a lot of time and hard work by getting a bigger scooter. Look at a Yamaha vino 125 or zuma 125. Or even the new Honda elite 110 or SH150i. I ride an 86 Honda elite 150D. IT will cruise all day at 55 mph and reach speeds approaching over 65 mph and carry two people up at 55 mph up any steep hill you give it. It will out accelerate all traffic in the city and has no problem keeping up on highways
