1. Go to "Competitions" on your Equestrian Center's page
2. Click "Cross-country"
3. Enter the parameters for the competition (eg the name and the breed which it is reserved for)
4. on the bottom of the page, a grid will appear. Click wherever you want your start to be.
5. then, more elements will appear above the grid. Click on one of them and place it after the start.
6. When you get to the border of the grid, use the element "veer left" or "veer right" to construct a turn.
7. The more elements you use, the harder your course gets.

Train your horse completely in Stamina, do long trot rides until you no longer gain skill in stamina, and compete in cross country competitions.
You cannot make your own breed (howrse introduces new ones into the game every so often) but you can cross any types of breeds that you want, ending up with horses with numerous bloodlines.
