How do you make a mare get a colt on Howrse?

You can type in an asterisk (*), or copy/paste symbols you find. =)

OR you can give your horse an Apollo's Lyre (black market item). It allows you to put special symbols in your horse's name.

You cannot give a horse a star, it is earned. Stars are awarded for every 10 genetic points over 100 in one skill, along with 100GP.

Here's an example. Bill the pony has 130 jumping potential. So he'd have 1* for reaching 100, 1* for reaching 110, 1* for reaching 120, and 1* for reaching 130. That's a total of 4*.

These stars are given for genetic potential, and howrses are born with them. The only exception is when the star is acquired by completing games.

Breed your horses with higher Gp and skilled horses.

If you breed 100 BLUP, high GP horses together generation after generation, eventually one of your foals will be born with the potential to gain more than 100 points in one of its skills areas. This marks a point in excellence and shows that you as a breeder have really surpassed yourself in producing a top quality horse. So you get a green star to show for your efforts. The green star will show up in a new box called 'Excellence' which appears next to the Genetics tab. Keep on breeding like this and eventually you will produce foal with 110.01 in Stamina, and he will then have TWO green stars and so on. It is possible for the horse to gain green stars in more than one skill.

You can calculate how much Genetic Potential your foal will have by doing the following:

Work out the average - add the parents figures together, then divide by two. And then add 1.2 gain for proper GP games.

The inborn skills and the gain in skills during lessons are not included in the genetic potential. So, a horse's skills may exceed the values indicated in its genetic potential.

Breed your horses with higher Gped and skilled horses.
you cant. your howrse has the same amount of stars its whole life. but if its female you can breed it to a male with more stars and the baby will have more stars than the mother. ☺

The easiest way is to breed a mare with stars to a stallion with stars. it helps if both have 100 BLUP, which means it will give the foal even more stars than they had. However, to get a starred foal out of regular horses with no stars, it may take several generations of fully BLUPed horses

The day your horse is ready to give birth to its foal/'s a box will pop up and say "Your horse is about to give birth to a foal! Make sure it's in a Equestrian Center." So the you would click the button in the box that says "call the vet", and then a new page will pop up showing your foal and what showing what gender it is. You can chose it's name and what breeding farm you want to place it in, if you have other breeding farms. Now you are able to take care of it and eventually train, ride, enter comps, and ect. Also if you have any other questions you can go to Community>Forums>Game Play, on the Howrse page. This is a place where you can ask and answer questions that you have and that other player's have.

You can't make your mare have a certain gender - it is a 50/50 chance of being a male or female. For the objective, your mare can have either a colt or a filly, it doesn't matter.
