The way to get a cat in minecraft is finding an ocelot in a Jungle Biome. (They look like little leopards or jaguars)
First of all, you need to catch A LOT of raw fish. Then, find an ocelot. The next part is tricky. The ocelot will get scared and run away from you if you walk towards it, so all you have to do is stand as near as you can to the ocelot and stand still. Soon enough, the ocelot with start walking very slowly towards you and when its right in front of you, feed it fish until it turns in a cat.
(BTW There are 3 different types of cats, the most common is an Orange cat, the likely one to get is a Siamese cat, and the most rare is a Black cat) It IS possible to get Black cat or the Siamese Cat on the FIRST try.
Its pretty hard, but I'm sure anyone can do it. :)
