There are basically two types of depression. If you have depressing circumstances in your life (a failing marriage, bankruptcy, etc.) you can understandably react to them by becoming depressed, which is known as reactive depression. That is not a psychiatric problem, it is a problem in managing your life, and the solution to the depression is to solve the problems that are making you depressed. The other kind of depression has no apparent cause in the circumstances of your life, and is related to brain chemistry. That is a psychiatric problem and it can be successfully treated by the use of antidepressants.
Your anxiety depression vanishes completely or partly and you feel better. You may experience sideeffects that make you feel bad.
Sometimes it does make it worse, but it depends on the person, and what about depression you are talking about. If you are talking about things to make it better, to just to vent, it could be a good thing. But if you are talking about suicide and sadder things, it could make the person experiencing depression, to go to the lowest level of depression a person could go into, and that would make it very worse.
Well, to me depression makes grammatical sense, like 'I have depression', it is the same with 'I am depressed', grammatically 'I am depress' or 'I have depress' doesn't make sense.
When you are testing a few different styles of depression treatment methods, make sure that you have a doctor monitor your process. He or she will be able to tell you if the generic or the name brand treatment works better. This is also a thing that should be done for safety. Some treatments will not make people feel better, but will make them feel worse. A doctor can see this and choose a new method.

The reasons that your cats HELP with your depression, is because they are someone who is there for you, probably constantly too. Depressed people tend to need or want somebody or something to be there for them, to make them happy. In this case, your cats make you happy because they give you company, probably like a best friend to you. It doesn't CURE your depression though. If you are seeing that you are having a hard time with that, you need to go to your doctor and talk to him/her about it.
The great depression was a time where many people could not make much money, and it was hard to make money.
