Obtaining gold and stone is the same as Age of Empires 2 without the expansion. You will have to mine it from gold or stone patches with a villager and have that villager place the stone or gold into a Mining Camp or the Town Center.
Also, you can cheat for stone and gold by typing 'rock on' or 'Robin Hood'
You have to first go to "Units" tab, on the top. Then, change the player on the bottom to "Gaia". After that, go to "Other", and you will find "Gold Mines" there. Just place them wherever you want.
