Homemade fireworks start with gunpowder. This is a highly dangerous practice and not suggested without proper experience and safety equipment. Gun powder is highly unstable, as are many of the other chemicals used.

I don't know how exactly they are made but I do know that:-
Child labourers are enslaved to make firecrackers and strong chemicals and explosives are used to make crackers. This poses a serious threat to the health and well being of the child workers and these children have limited access to medical facility is limited because of their economic condition. There are number of Non Government Agencies working to make cracker factory child labor free. The children may come out of the factories but lack of opportunities, extreme poverty forces them to go back to their old job. Firecrackers also pollute the air and the noise affects the hearing of some animals because their hearing is much more sensitive. Firecrackers can cause hearing loss, high blood pressure, sleeping disturbances and sudden exposure to loud noise can cause temporary or permanent deafness or even result in heart attack.
