Are you confident? the main reason people don't get respect is they don't have confidence in themselves. Do you do what they say, are you always listening to what they say and feel you have no voice. This is harsh but the only reason your spouse is not giving you respect is because your letting them do that to you. Find yourself. Sit alone and think about what life would be like if they did respect you, how it would make you feel. I don't know the exact circumstances your relationship is in but if you feel you might need more help get it. I did. Now i stand up and be counted. I say what i have to say and i make people listen. Don't get aggressive though

You can't really make someone respect you. Fear you maybe, but respect is earned. Keep your word when you give it. Do what you say you will do to the best of your ability. Don't lie, cheat, steal or do anything to someone else that you wouldn't want done to you. Stand by your principles. Admit when you are wrong and try not to repeat it. Don't let people walk on you, but don't refuse to help someone else. Being the best person you can be without calling attention to your actions will over time bring you some measure of respect. Who do you want the respect from and why? Some people will respect you if you are ruthless and take advantage of other people.
