There isn't really a way in which you sim can actually be famous but there are some things that make them as famous as they can be on Sims 2. One thing you could do is get a job in the entertainment career or show business career and work your way to the top, this way your job will end up being something like a 'Superstar@ ect. You could also get a job in the buisness career and work you way up to Mayor, which means you will sort of be famous in Sim City. If you have Sim Apartment Life, you will be able to build up your reputation. Go out to Community Lots and greet as many people as you can and become friendly with a large amount of people and your reputation will increase. The higher your reputation, the more popular you are in the City.

You actually do have your star! All you need to do is make your active sim different then the one who is famous. You don't have the star above your head because you have the green (or what ever color it is at the moment) sim diamond above you. This lets you know you are controlling that sim. If you only have one sim in the household then you have to check a different way. Go into a different house you have set up and call the famous sim over and you will see your star! Your game does not have an error! You need to have 5 star famous-ness, but, If you have then theres an error on your game.
