If it has nothing to do with you, then you can offer support, but generally they'll just need time to get over it, and there's little you can do other than to be a willing listener, if they choose to ask you for support.
If they're mad at you for something, ask yourself if you're sorry about it. If you are genuinely sorry, make sure you apologize to them. Don't offer explanations or excuses, just apologize and recognize you screwed up.
If you're genuinely not sorry, do not apologize because that is dishonest. You can offer your point of view as to why you feel in the right, but they'll either accept it and move on, or remain mad at you. It's up to that person to be mad or not mad, not you. In the end, it's better for them to be mad at you than to have them happy with you after a dishonest apology.
