The carrot symbol is used to express exponents. For instance x squared would be written on a computer as x^2. The symbol signifies that the number has been raised into superscript.
The symbol for squared is ², for example, 2 squared would be 2².

Unfortunately you cannot writ a sq. root symbol on the computer, so you could just say 'squared.'

To insert the square meters symbol (m²) in Outlook, you can use the superscript feature. Type "m2," highlight the "2," and then press "Ctrl + Shift + =" to make the "2" superscript. Alternatively, you can insert it directly by going to the "Insert" tab, selecting "Symbol," and choosing the squared symbol from the list.
