Don't get offended by the feedback you receive,

Ask for clarification if you do not understand the nuance of the feedback,

Appreciate and be candid about the feedback,

Then process the information and decide on any modifications needed.

NOTE: Personally, I have always used a process that takes the best and the worst of all collected information and disregard it; the feedback between those two points will yield better results.

Getting feedback is a great way to make a work place much more efficient. Feedback helps you learn what certain members of a group of even outside people like or dislike about the way things work or things are being made. By knowing what things people don't favor we can eliminate those if possible, and at times making less work for everyone. Less work on things that people don't favor makes for more time to work on new things or improving what people already like.

feedback also allows for a group as a whole to communicate and be in tune with what's going on. The more people within a group communicate with each other, the less error or indecisiveness in the long run, and again giving more time.

How do you get and make use of feedback on performance?

There are a few ways to get and make use of feedback on performance. One way is to ask your employer to take some time and make a list of areas in which you can improve. Once your employer meets with you to review your areas of performance, make sure to take the time to listen, take notes, and ask questions. Another way to get performance feedback is to ask your family, friends, and co workers to give you face to face feedback. Make sure to explain to them that you will not be angry and that you will not be upset by any type of feedback that you are given.
