If you buy one pound of butter each stick is 4 ounces. 2 sticks = 8 ounces 3 sticks = 12 ounces 4 sticks = 16 ounces, 1 pound If you need to measure teaspoon, tablespoon etc., look on the wrapper of each stick. It will have markings on it to help you.

∙ 14y agoIn tablespoons I believe It can also be measured in ounces, pounds and 1/4 cup, 1/2 cup. One stick of butter is a half cup, so half a stick would be one fourth cup. Also, while it isn't measured this way very often, it can be measure in teaspoons. There are 3 teaspoons in 1 tablespoon, and 8 tablespoons in 1 stick of butter, so that would be 24 teaspoons in 1 stick.

One is to scoop the butter into a tablespoon measure, flatten off the top with a knife and then scoop it out of the measure with your finger or a teaspoon. Do this four times for four tablespoons.
The second way is by weight. A tablespoon of butter weighs 1 oz, or just over 14 grams (14.18 grams), so 4 tablespoons would weigh 4 ozs or just under 57 grams.
The third way is by measuring the right amount from the pat or stick of butter. In the US a stick of butter usually equals 8 tablespoons, so half a stick would be 4 tablespoons.
Outside the US, in most countries butter is usually sold in 500 g packs wrapped in plasticised paper. For convenience the pack is usually printed with marks to enable one to cut off the right amount without measuring. Remember ... from the above ... a tablespoon is just over 14 grams.
