If the computer is functioning well for the work, it can motivate employees. The majority of issues raised by employees regarding computers at work can be overcome by simply allocating right configuration for the type of task will be performed by the individual system. If that can be taken care of will be sufficient to motivate employee as per my opinion.
Training gives your employees confidence that they can perform their job well and won't get fired. Training doesn't, from my expirience, motivate an employee. The only thing that motivates an employee is money, that's why they come to work. Tell them that if they do their job well, their will be a raise in their future.
