You can choose to pay for a service to do this, there are many online, just do a search. The other option is to see if your state has court cases available online. In Wisconsin there is a circuit court access page which shows what court cases or charges have been made in wisconsin. It is a really nice site and several other states do the same thing. You can also go to the locality where the person lives and see if there are any cases against them there by going to the local authorities. The reason finding out a person's criminal record is hard is that it is still a person's relatively private business.

You can go to the court house and apply. If it is a court order to appear you might need to see the DA handling the case. You are not specific. Most of the time taking out a warrant will make sure you have the person there. Again you can talk with the District Attorneys office in your city and they will advise you .

It depends upon what type of records you are seeking. For actual court records (civil trials, criminal trials, family court hearings, juvenile court hearings, etc.) go to the office of The Clerk Of The Court for the jurisdiction you are interested in and give them the "style" (name) of the case and as much information as you know about it (date/location/judge/charge/etc) to enable them to find it easily. You should be able to see or review the file but will not be able to remove it from the office. (NOTE: some portions of Family Court hearings or Juvenile trials may NOT be "public" records for confidentiality reasons, and you will not be able to view them.) For other 'official' records - (e.g.- real estate deeds/birth and death certificates/etc) depending on the jurisdiction in which you live you may have to go to other official offices in which those records are housed.
