I just went through this with a 1994 extended cab S10. I ended up removing the interior trim. Once that was out of the way I use Vise-Grips to grasp the striker bolts and remove them - not easy as one of them is partially blocked by metal work in the door jamb.
For that one I ended up making the last few turns by rotating the metal backing plate that they are screwed into, then putting pressure on the door to hold the bolt still and then rotated the plate the other way, back and forth, like a ratchet would do.
Once that plate was off, I pushed the screws toward the door as far as they would go.
Now a crow bar (yikes!) I stuck it in between the door and the body and pulled toward the interior of the truck. WARNING: This does bend and distort the edge of the door jamb, and you have to fix that because if you don't, then the weather stripping won't seal anymore.
I finally got the screws out of the holes, but now they were wedging the door, as they were between it and the frame.
Some more pressure and the thing was open.
Result: Door open but can't be closed again - you now need a new latch and perhapes a new striker. There are also two deep gouges where the bolts dragged through the paint in the door jamb - not visible from the outside but it has to be addressed or you'll get rust.
Nasty job to be sure. I tried taking the door panel off first (also a PITA) but while I could *touch* the latch I couldn't really see it and was not able to make it open that way.
To open a stuck door on a 2000 Kia Sephia, remove the door panel and check the latch mechanism. It is likely to be bent. Better to replace the latch mechanism.
lift door handle, using screwdriver, move latch forward....will open
To fix a trunk latch that is stuck open, the teeth on the lock may have to be adjusted so the trunk will close. It is also possible that the cable for the trunk latch is broken. To fix the gas cap door latch may require a little bending and adjusting with a pair of pliers.
The latch is attached to linkages... you have to grab those linkages and pull them in the direction that the latch would've pulled them (usually inward).
door open from inside or outside
pull the door handle on the outside and open the latch by hand both at the same time
Can you get inside the car and remove the interior panel of the door that is stuck ? If you can remove that panel you will be able to manually pull the door catch (And then open the door and have the door latch fixed properly)
ideaswill it open from the outside and not the inside if so then it's a child safety lock located on the door jam near the latch if not you could have any of the following broken lock, door latch or the latch is just stuck.
If I understand you right the door is opened and won't close because the latch is tripped. Lift up on the door handle and take your finger or a screw driver and move the latch to the open position
What I do is, pull the latch, slip a pack of cigarettes under it to keep the latch open, and then slip the credit card ege inside and open the door. Of course, you have to be a smoker or have something the right size. Hope this helps.
your trunk latch may be stuck in the open position. The latch pushes to the left to open, try pushing it to the right and see if it pops into place.
Just going by the question...I would say that the latch has gotten in "the closed door position". Be sure that the door is unlocked. With your finger lift out on the latch on the end of the door and use the door handle to "open" the door latch.
