Best Answer

Start > Run > Regedit (Enter) If you want to edit it manually, although it's not recommended unless you have excellent knowledge how it works.

If you want to edit it manually, then here's the way.

* Click on the 'My Computer' icon on your desktop. * Select the hard disk drive. Most hard disk drives are in Local Disk C or D. * Then click on 'WINDOWS' folder. * Click on a file named 'regedit' located in this folder. * The 'Registry Editor' shall open. * You will be able to see several folders in the sidebar. * Expand those folders and select the query which you would like to edit. * To edit, right click on the string value and select 'Modify. WARNING: Editing wrong values of the Registry may result in permanent loss of data and may also cause system crashes. Please take proper guidance and collect necessary information before handling the Registry and make sure you create a back up of the Registry before you make any changes.

Click on start -> run and type in regedit click ok. You could also hold down the windows key and press R then type in regedit and click ok.

This will run the registry editor. Please make backups regularly before you change anything.

You will need to use either Command Prompt or regedit. The latter is easiest, and can usually be accessed any one of three ways.

  1. Click Start then click "Run..." and type in regedit.
  2. Click start and find Command Prompt (CMD.exe). Launch that, then type this exact string in: "start "" regedit" and press enter.
  3. Open Windows Explorer and browse to C:\Windows\System32 and find and run one of the following: regedit.exe regedt32.exe or regedt64.exe
If none of these work, then you may need to read and edit through CMD, using the "reg" command. If so, type"reg /?" into Command Prompt to get started. you will ultimately need "reg add" but you may want to look around first. If so, you will probably want "reg query". You may be able to just use add to overwrite a key's data, or this may be blocked for you. If it is blocked, use "reg delete" first, but only when the OS is not running if it is a system setting. Type the command you need into CMD followed by "/?" to get more info on the command that you will ever want to know, if you need help along the way.
