Iodoform gause usually comes in 1/4" to 1" wide strips in a bottle. First, you must clean the wound with regular saline. Using clean tweezers, pull strip out of bottle, and using sterile cotton tipped applicators, begin inserting the iodoform gauze strip into the wound. You do not want to pack it too tightly. Pack just enough to readh the top of the wound. The purpose of this is to let the wound heal from the inside out. Once packed, cover with dressing and wrap with Kerlix or ace wrap.
