Firefox can be personalised with different themes, personas and various add-ons (also called extensions). This is a step-by-step guide to how to do this on Firefox. It is recommended to use the latest version of Firefox (this can be dowloaded from the Mozilla Firefox website for free).
1) Click on the orange 'Firefox' button at the top left-hand corner of the browser window.
2) A drop-down menu appears: on the right-hand side of this menu is 'Add-ons' with a picture of a jigsaw puzzle next to it. Click on 'Add-ons' (it is just above 'help' and 'options').
3) It should bring you to a page in a new tab called 'Add-ons Manager'. This page has a series of images on the left-hand side. Clicking on 'Get Add-ons' (the top image) will let you browse through all the available add-ons for Firefox. Some may only work on earlier versions of Firefox but most should be available and they are all free.
All the personas, themes and extensions are accessible from this page. Personas are the customisable part at the very top of your browser. They are just the pattern you see (you could add a flag or an image there, for example). Themes control the whole display of your browser. Finally, extensions are extra functions such as toolbars, advert blockers, privacy protection software, etc.
When applying a new persona to Firefox, holding the mouse cursor above the green button which says 'Add to Firefox' will give you a preview of what the persona looks like before you install it. Most extensions require you to restart Firefox - doing this is simple as you just close it and open it again.
