To cut my work in half... Do you mean the door lock or the ignition lock ??
You probably can't. It'd have to be a very large lock indeed that a knife would fit into.
I have tried with the paper clip with the master lock but it doesn't work. I think a bobby pin might do the trick.
well if you have a knife or a paper clip you can pick it
Get a Tension and a screwdriver and pocketknife.... Use the PocketKnife to slip the pocketknife through the side of the door.... Use the screw driver to broke the lock..... Use the tension to pick it.....

To fix a door latch already in the locked position, first you pick the lock. Actually you many not need to do that unless there is only one door into the room. What you will do will depend on the type of lock. If the lock is in the door handle, there may be a small rectangular indentation underneath the door handle. If there is, put a small screw driver in it and take push it in. While it is pushed in pull out the door handle. You will then see the unit that goes into the hole in the door jam. It will have a place that you can pull back with a screwdriver. Pull it back and then you should be able to open the door. If the lock is one that will not work and you are inside. There should be some screws in the lock itself that you can unscrew and do the same thing. There are also solvents available at hardware stores that you can squirt into difficult locks that will let them open with a key.
