what location is the laser lance in
The Laser Lance is down in the metal flowers under your ship's landing platform. Drop down to the right when you arrive on the Jungle Planet and you will find the Lance sitting in a narrow spotlight. To climb back up, head left to the lowest "flower" and let it throw you upward to the next higher one, and so forth back to the ship. Then head right to encounter Sir Cador, Pegasus the flying unicorn, and the Phoenix Birds. (see related question)
to use the laser lance you press the cage where the unicorn horse is and you automatically use it(happens by it's self).
it charges by itself
It blinks yellow and you need to charge your laser lance right up to shoot it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Laser Lance.
Hold the button thingy
To use the laser lance, you have to click your mouse for a shot of small energy. For a powerful shot, simply hold the mouse down and release. This will come in handy to beat the Phoenix bird boss.
At the bottom of the metal forest, you will find the Laser Lance. Pick it up, climb back to the platform, and go right to meet Sir Cador. Climb across the Phoenix Eggs to reach the cage, and use the laser to blast the lock open. *To cross the eggs, jump when the next one is OPEN, so that you land on it when it is CLOSED. (see related question)
Pick up the Laser Lance from below the landing pad, then climb back up and go right. Climb across the Phoenix Eggs by jumping toward them when they are open. Mounted on Pegasus, fire the Laser Lance in short bursts to zap the smaller birds, or hold and release for a more powerful shot, to knock out the red birds and the Mother Phoenix. (You hold down your mouse button for a few seconds, to charge the Lance, and when you let it go, it fires a more powerful shot.) Avoid the lightning and collision with the birds, which drain your health. Hit the Mother phoenix three times (in the head) and dodge if she comes at you from behind.
