All Kindle books go to a single folder on your Kindle, named "documents". Amazon's said before that they don't intend on allowing users to create more folders.
If you use a micro-usb cable and connect it to your computer, you can transfer files to and from your Kindle just like it was an external hard drive. Place any .mobi files in the Books folder, and place .pdf and other formats in the Documents folder. Once you've added your files, you may need to restart the Kindle to get it to recognize your new books.
If you have a Kindle 3G, there is absolutely no need for a connection to any computer. Upon placing an order for a kindle book on amazon.com the book is delivered wirelessly to the device. The device basically has a cell phone inside that operates on Sprint's CDMA network. This is all free of charge. This way you get new content on the device without it ever touching a computer. If you do live in an area where you don't have good CDMA reception or if have a WiFi only Kindle you can plug the kindle into any computer using a USB cable and it will basically just act as a USB flash drive. You will see all the files on the kindle and you just need to place the kindle books in the correct folder. The kindle operates a Linux operating system so it should cause no issues connecting it to any OS whether it be Windows, Mac OSX, or any distro of Linux.
email them to the iPad. Open email and hold finger down on attachement until Open with pops up, choose Kindle app.
On one kindle you take the books you want to move, sync them to itunes, and down load them on the other kindle. I have two Kindles and when I read a book on either one it asks me if I want to go to the place I left off on the other Kindle, I gues t uses the cloud to do this. When I get a book from the Kindle store it shows up on both Kiindles, it must be magic.
That depends on where you are downloading them from, and where to. For instance, if you are on an iPad and you download a book, it could be in a standalone app (if you downloaded it from the App store), or it could be in one of your e-reader apps like Nook, Kindle, or iBooks, if you downloaded it through Safari. If you are downloading from your computer, then usually where you are buying it will tell you. It will say that it will be downloaded to your Kindle, or it will let you select a place on your computer to store it... like your C: drive. If you are on a windows computer, you can try going into your documents or My Documents folder and seeing if it is there. Or try your temp folder... sometimes things download there if you don't select a location. You should also check your downloads folder.
Sorry, I typed the earlier answer in the wrong place, I'm new to this site, but I saw the Kendle on line at target.
There are a number of sources for free books, especially classics that are out of copyright. I'd start with Gutenberg.org. Amazon.com has a very good selection of free e-books for the Kindle, and you can download the free Kindle app for your smartphone or computer. Google Books has also made a great effort in scanning old books and releasing them. Of course, the BEST place to read free books is at your local library.
Depending on the type of e-reader you own depends on where you can buy books. For the Kindle Amazon would be the place and for the Nook Barnes and Noble. I am not sure about the other e-readers.
Yes. (2010) Kindles. At least you can with the new Kindle you can download ebooks from other ebook sites, put them on your computer, then upload them to the Kindle via USB. there is at least one non-Amazon ebook place that uses Amazon's WhisperNet to load directly to the Kindle.
No! The Amazon Kindle comes with zero books on it. You will have to buy books from the Kindle store or from other sources, some of which are free. 2nd answer: Good answer! When I bought a Kindle for my wife this Spring, a few hours later, I went to the Kindle part of Amazon, and found 3 free books that I thought she would like, and they were uploaded to the Kindle during shipping, and were on there when she opened the package.
The only place I would look to get free audio books would be on Amazon. If you try looking on Amazon you will find many different free books and Audio books to purchase.
Amazon.com is the best place to find a Kindle Fire. The Kindle Fire can also be found at Best Buy.
