Dig a hole in the ground with the shovel, select the pear, and choose "bury." A pear tree should grow in about half-a-week. Just make sure you do not put it too close to a building, post, shore, or other tree.
if your town fruit is something other than peaches, you will need to either
1. go to someone elses town via wifi who has peaches and take them home
2. send mail to villagers with a present. the mail must say this exactly:
Please send fruit.
Sometimes that works, but not always...your characters mother can randomly send you fruit, but this is rare.

If you have got a mail from 'Mom' and she gives you a peach, then take the peach and bury it and water it. Hopefully the next day a tree would have grown. If not I am not entirely sure.
