you need xbox live, if you have it then you press start and on the last option is co-op, press thta, it will come up with a list of people who are on Saints Row 2. select a person and away you go!!
who says he is playing xbox....
anyway, here is how on PS3, just in case.
First, on main menu, go to co-op, then press Online, and press Quick Match. It will ask you which save to load, load one, and it will find a player and join, if they allow you.
