You will be using the disodium salt of EDTA (M.W. = 372.24 g/mole). It has been dried for 1

day at 80°C to drive off any superficial moisture. Transfer it in desiccator for an hour.

Weigh carefully about 1.95 g of EDTA (record to

the nearest 0.1 mg). Quantitatively transfer this into a 500 mL volumetric flask then add 2-3 mL

of pH 10 ammonia buffer. Fill the flask about halfway to the mark with deionized water and

swirl to dissolve. This process can take up to 15 minutes. Once dissolved, dilute to the mark

and then cap and invert the flask at least 6 times to get a uniform solution. Keep the solution

capped.

This solution is about 0.01M but for an exact value you need Standardization of this solution with Calcium Carbonate standard solution.

Dissolve 2.92 grams edta in one liter distilled water.

The molar mass of edta is 292.24 g mol-1. Molarity is moles of solute divided by liters of solute. To make a 0.01m solution, take 0.01*the molar mass of the substance and dissolve it in one liter of water. So: 0.01*292.24=2.92 grams.

How would you prepare a 300 ml of a 0.1 M Na CL solution from a solid Na CL solution and water?

You prepare a solution by dissolving a known mass of solute into a specific amount of solvent. In solutions, M is the molarity, or moles of solute per liter of solution. For 300 ml of a 0.1 M Na CL solution from a solid Na CL solution and water you need water and sodium chloride.

How do you prepare 1 M solution from 6 M solution?

It's simple to dilute a solution, just add more water. If you have one liter of 6 molar solution, and add another 5 liters of water, it becomes a 1 molar solution. You can also use M1V1 = M2V2 formula for dilution. For example, if you want to prepare 1 M of solution in 1 litre of water, then how much volume you need from the initial 6 M solution? Simply use the equation, (6 M) x (V1) = (1 M) x (1 litre) ---> V1 = (1 M) x (1 litre)/(6 M) = 0.167 L or 167 ml
