First you have to determine if is in fact a painted pool. If it is a plaster pool then usually there is no paint unless it was painted because of age and damaged plaster. You most likely do not want to paint a plaster pool - have it acid washed to clean plaster. Not sure how to determine what type paint. You would have to have the paint chips anaylized to determine if it is a chlorinated base paint or epoxy paint. Ken
looks much better and easier to repair if required
Hum, what kind of shock treatment would stain your pool. What color is the stain. Brown? Not the treatment. Iron in water - should run filter for 12 hrs after refilling or toping off the pool and adding a treatment or chlorine. Your plastered pool most likely was not painted unless you know this for a fact. Plastered pool are not painted unless you are trying to hide something. The staining can only be removed by the process of a light acid wash of the plaster. Treat your pool with a sequestering agent or stain out product once in a while to prevent this in the future. Follow label instructions. k
Not all pools have pool liners, some are simply painted concrete. Depends upon your type of pool. If you are concerned with longivity, then consider a thicker vinyl.
