Hum, what kind of shock treatment would stain your pool. What color is the stain. Brown? Not the treatment. Iron in water - should run filter for 12 hrs after refilling or toping off the pool and adding a treatment or chlorine. Your plastered pool most likely was not painted unless you know this for a fact. Plastered pool are not painted unless you are trying to hide something. The staining can only be removed by the process of a light acid wash of the plaster. Treat your pool with a sequestering agent or stain out product once in a while to prevent this in the future.
