I am going through the same thing here.

I turned on my central air and found no cooling. I bought a set of AC service gauges to test the pressure of the suction, or low pressure side(large insulated pipe) and the pressure of the liquid, or high pressure side (little pipe). You do this by attaching the screw on hose plugs from the gauges to the little service valve plugs located on the outdoor condensing unit. They are like bicycle valves and must be screwed on completely to open the valve stems and get a reading.

I had almost no pressure on the high side which told me that I had lost all my freon through a leak somewhere.

The best way to find a leak is to get a bottle of nitrogen, a regulator, and a compatible hose to one of the service valves. Presurize the system with NO MORE THAN 200 lbs of Nitrogen. This is more than enough pressure to find a leak, and not so much pressure to explode your Plumbing. This is done by making sure the out side of the regulator is dialed down to less than 200lbs.

Once you find the leak, you can repair it by brazing it, or even epoxy if it is in the fine plumbing of the evaporator unit.

Then you must evacuate the system with a vacuum pump, check for leaks (watch the vacuum stay consistant with the pump off and closed for a while), and then recharge with freon.

Good luck

The water you see under the car when the air conditioner is running is condensation. If you are leaking antifreeze then you need to pressure test the system and repair the leak.
