Don't brush so hard. Maybe a softer toothbrush might help. It's totally normal.
**Improving the above reply: it's NOT normal. It usually means you have gum disease (that is if the blood is coming from your GUMS and not actually out of your TEETH - which would be weird and unlikely). If it's your gums, use a soft toothbrush, brush twice a day, and START FLOSSING. Then go see your dentist - you probably need to have your teeth cleaned. If you do all of the above, sudden bleeding of the gums can mean you have a health problem - go see your dentist or physician to make sure it's not serious.
Also - stop smoking. It's terrible for your gums (not to mention the rest of your body).
