if its an original transmitter for the car and just needs to be resyncronized eg:after a battery replacement.. then hold lock and unlock at the same time for about 10 seconds while in range of the car
the horn will honk and the lamps will flash once if its a "new" transmitter and you want to add it
bring all your transmitters to the dealer and they all have to be recoded
any lost transmitters won't work after recoding
how do you program a keyless entry remote to a 2000 Pontiac grandprix programyourremote.com (program your remote.com)
go to http://www.programyourremote.com/ they have programs for many makes and models
Open the keyless remote and you will see the battery take it out and replace it with the same size.
the dealer does it with a scan tool
You have to program it with a DRB (Scan tool).
I had the same problem. Google "keyless entry remote 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee".
dealer has to do it with factory scan tool
Most of the time all you need to do is replace the battery. If it doesn't work after that, you will need to take it to a dealer.
I had to replace a keyless remote for my 2001 dakota. I found one off od E-bay then I had to program it using the programing sequence in the owners manual. It was really simple. I only paid something like ten buck for the remote and have had no problems.
It was optional.
more info. Well i have a remote from my old 96 grand am. Now i just bought a different one and it didnt come with the remote. Can i program the old one to work with the new one? Its pretty much the same exact car minus a couple things.
Insert something thin and hard, such as a pocket knife blade, in between the remote halves. After this, simply pull the halves apart and replace the old battery with the new. Snap the remote back together.
