It's the sensor for the keyless entry remote.
Turn on the ignition, go to the rear of the vehicle and open the hatch. On the left side there is a panel. Open this panel and you will see contacts for programing the remote. Be sure to find the right contacts and momentaraly jump them. This will program your vehicle to except commands from your new remote. I don't have any photos of the contacts so I can't show the exact ones that you have to jump. Be careful, be sure of the right contacts.
The remote access module is located under the dash cover on the passenger side at the windshield. This piece easily pops off with a screw driver. This will disconnect the keyless entry system.
