Get in car, close the door, make sure all doors are closed, DO NOT LOCK THE DOORS ....
Put the key in the ignition, turn the key to on but without starting the car (lights on dash light up only) press and release the key lock button on the key remote in the ignition, turn key to off, without removing the key......
Turn to on without starting the car (dash lights up only) press and release the same key remote lock button again, turn the ignition off, without removing the key......
Then turn back on (lights on dash on only without starting the car, press and release the same key remote lock button again, turn off the ignition without removing the key....
Turn on the ignition once more without starting the car, press and release the same key remote lock button again and you should hear the door lock click (the locks will not cycle -- just a slight click) ....leave the key in the ignition ...
Now within 3 seconds, press the lock button on all other remotes you want to program (one at a time)..... you will hear a slight lock click for each remote indicating the remotes are being programmed....
Now remove the key from the ignition and you can test the other remotes. (THEY WILL NOT WORK WITH A KEY IN THE IGNITION) You should be able to lock and unlock the doors with each new remote.
The sequence of turning the key in the ignition on and off is only required with one key. (Usually one you already have programmed)
That is all there is to it. It works like a charm and saves you money. My dealer wanted 1 hour shop time to program it ($65).
You're either using the wrong key - or the lock is faulty.
remove screw from base of key with a very tiny screwdriver or take it to the dealership to have it done.
No, only the key for a specific Civic can unlock it.
To reset the alarm on a 2005 Honda Pilot, first, unlock the vehicle using the key fob or the physical key in the driver's door. If the alarm is sounding, it should stop when the vehicle is unlocked. Additionally, you can reset the alarm by turning the ignition on without starting the engine, then pressing the lock button on the key fob. If problems persist, consult the owner's manual or a professional for further assistance.
How do you repair a key lock on 2005 Honda Civic car? Thanks Nina Scott
Anyplace that sells watch batteries.
Panasonic CR1618
Very common problem on the 2003 Honda Pilot. The tumblers go bad and it will cost around $400 for a dealer to replace. Honda should have a recall on this.
CR1616 - 3v battery
Open the key fob and remove the battery which has a # on it, and then buy a duplicate.
Remove small screw from near projecting key, pry sections apart, remove inner module to access battery.
To program a new key for a 2003 Honda Pilot, you'll need to have the new key and a working master key. Insert the master key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position without starting the engine. Turn the key to "Off" and remove it, then insert the new key and turn it to "On" for about 10 seconds. After that, turn it back to "Off" and your new key should be programmed.
