'Hello' is Nǐ hǎo (sounds like knee how). It is informally as a greeting to; Freinds Family Colleagues There is also zao shang hao, zhong Wu hao and wan shang hao which mean, respectively, good morning, good afternoon and good evening. If you are answering a telephone, instead of saying Nǐ hǎo, you say 'wei?' By the way it is spelt Mandarin not Manderan
