ΙΧΘΥΣ is Ichthys, pronounced "ick-thus". It is the acronym of early Christianity used by early Christians, when Christianity was considered a cult by most humans in that part of the world, to safely identify one another.

It isn't a fish, but rather two arcs that intersect. The acronym that later became the greek word for "fish", after decades of using the word. The Greek Acronym consists of the letters Iota, Chi, Theta, Ypsilon, and Sigma in their capitalized forms. Translated to English the acronym stands for, "Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior."
