It's not easy trying to transcribe the sounds of French into English. Vowel sounds are much more precise than they are in English. Alençon (please note the 'ç' has a hard 's' sound). In French no syllable is stressed more than another one. AH LEN (nasal en sound) S ON (nasal on sound). It's the name of a town in Lower Normandy.
