How do you properly seal a Chevy small block intake manifold at the front and rear valleys?

I've had good luck using silicone RTV sealant. Make sure all surfaces are clean and smooth before starting. Install the big gaskets that lay on the heads, then squeeze out a good 1/4" bead of silicone across the end rails, merging with the tabs on the gaskets to avoid corner leaks. Let it set for about a half hour before installing the intake manifold.
