Elmo is cool
there is no lower intake gasket, only a front and rear gasket
there is no upper intake gasket, only a front and rear
there is no gasket on the exhaust manifold. i have a 93 escort lx wagon and i have a leak somewhere and i looked at the exhaust diagram at my local napa and it doesnt show a gasket. * Not sure which diagram you were looking at but there is DEFINITELY a gasket... Look up exhaust manifold on any popular car site and you will clearly see one.
well so far it cost me $700.00
The manifold gasket is the same as the plenum gasket. The manifold gasket is a barrier between the manifold and the engine block.
You need to find the vacuum leak that is causing the high idle. You might have had a gasket slide out of place during install.
If the usual problems don't reveal the prolem have your mechanic check the intake manifold. These engines have a tendency to loosen the bolts on the intake manifold and the leak will damge the gasket. In time it will get worse.
I found an independant mechanic, who works out of his own building on a farm, who does this for about $375
Remove the manifold and change the gasket. And voila!!!
Installing a head gasket is a major repair that requires the removal of the intake and exhaust manifold and the head. This should only be undertaken by someone with the skill and knowledge to perform it correctly.
Remove the intake manifold retaining bolts from your 1993 Mercedes-Benz manifold. Remove the old manifold gasket. Clean the surface and put the new gasket on.
